Two
Faces of Love
In
a poor and rural home in Maine, Linda is raised by an abusive
stepfather and a loving mother who is excommunicated from the
church after her divorce. Ironically, Linda becomes a devout
nun, then educator, and finally, chaplain working in a hospice
counseling terminally ill patients and their families. From
the very beginning of her twenty-five years of religious life,
an almost imperceptible, unanswerable, nagging surfaces concerning
her religious vocation. Behind a comic smile and wit, Linda
holds it in check, finally crumbling under the years of denial,
and forced (emotionally and physically) to come to terms with
a decision that will change her life forever.

Forgive?
Forgiven... Yeah Right!
Linda
Lambert Pestana has a dream…
a dream for everyone, that the story within each individual
is recognized as a gift, that healing and forgiveness can happen,
and that the hurt and scars from the past can indeed remain
part of our lives. We can choose to either allow our lives to
become bitter, or we can choose for our lives to become better.
You are, perhaps, saying—yeah right, but that’s
Linda Pestana's truth.
Remember, the past is the past. We cannot relive what we have
lived. We can only play the past in our minds, ushering some
good, but also allowing anger, resentment, pain, and blame to
become part of our present.
When we choose anger, resentment, pain, or blame, we pass our
power away, placing the responsibility for what we feel onto
another person.
Discovering
forgiveness was a special gift - one that I hope you will also
discover within these pages. Both good and bad memories play
a tremendous part in our self-healing, and the person you and
I are today is a mere reflection of the treasure that awaits
all who can forgive.
My wish for you as you walk this journey with me is that you
will see the light at the end of your own self-reflection. To
heal from past hurts, we must first learn to forgive within.
It is only through self-love and self-awareness that we can
see through the hurdles in our lives to the blessings that lie
beyond. Within all of us lies a beautiful and precious soul,
one that need not be burdened with the trials and tribulations
of the wrongs in this world. May you see yourself for the essence
of pure love that you were created to be.

Forgive?
Forgiven... Yeah Right!
A
Companion Book
Forgiveness
is possible in direct proportion to our ability to love! When
we allow love to guide us and influence our choices and decisions,
then forgiveness is not only possible, but guaranteed.
The greater our love grows, the stronger our willingness will
be to tolerate and forgive. Our desire to remember the hurts
and transgressions we have suffered, as well as inflicted, lessens
with time and understanding. When we feel love deep within,
we can fill the chambers of our heart. May this book provide
the answers you seek, and open up a path of awareness to your
mind and spirit. — Reverend George Bergin, svd
This
companion book was written for you from my own personal story…saying
hello to moments past with the promise to move forward to the
joys of tomorrow. Throughout my journey, I have realized how
important it was to articulate my own experiences of being so
that I could more deeply hear what my heart was calling me to
do. Seeking to notice, seeking to hear… and then to respond
to the birth of that life… right now.
